The main events of the forum were:
- The launch of two new institutions - the National Cyber Security Agency and the Cybercor National Institute for Cyber Security Innovation. Following a competition, Mihai Lupascu, who previously served as State Secretary at the Ministry of Economic Development and Digitalisation, was appointed director of the Agency.
- The Cybercor National Institute for Cybersecurity Innovation will develop the skills of students and professionals in cybersecurity. It is located at the Technical University of Moldova and features laboratories specialising in cyber security threat modelling, a cyber security operations centre, technical facilities, classrooms and a server room with cyber security scenario models.
- Discussions and keynote speeches by international speakers on topics such as regional cyber threats, cyber security strategy development, core competencies in the cyber ecosystem, regional co-operation for collective security and more.
- Paul Tumelty, Regional Head of Mandiant, one of the world's leading cyber security companies, spoke about the importance of preventing cyber attacks and securing critical infrastructure.
- The event concluded with a discussion of new technologies in the education system and their role in the education of the younger generation and civil servants.
Moldova Cybersecurity Forum 2024 was organised by the Ministry of Economic Development and Digitalisation under the auspices of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Moldova, in partnership with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, the Technical University of Moldova, with the support of USAID and the Swedish and British Embassies in Chisinau, as well as the EU Partnership Mission and the e-Government Academy.
